Week Seven at Tallaght Training Centre

Night 13: Social Media Strategy – Making It Look Easy

First up, we focused on creating a social media content plan that actually works. The key? Consistency. Post regularly, hold yourself accountable, and here’s the fun part keep it interesting without burning out. Simple, right? (Spoiler: It’s not that easy, but we’ll pretend it is for now.)

Next, we talked about market research using Twitter (or, as it's now called, X). If you’re not using it to stalk your competitors and eavesdrop on what your audience cares about, are you even doing social media right? This platform is a goldmine for understanding trends and tapping into real time conversations.

We also touched on evergreen content that magical type of post that doesn’t get old. Think of it like the content version of a vintage jacket, always in style, and you can reuse it year after year. We even created a Movember campaign that we can recycle every year easy wins, people.

Night 14: Online Law – The Boring Stuff You Should Actually Care About

Now for the part where we put on our “serious” hats law. Specifically, we broke down defamation into two categories: libel (written) and slander (spoken). So, if you’re thinking about trash-talking your competitors online, just know that there are legal consequences if you cross the line.

We also went deep into the dark side of the internet, covering online harassment. Here’s the rundown: if you’re threatening, bullying, stalking, or just being a general A hole online, you're breaking the rules. Don’t be that person. The digital world is full of pitfalls, so let’s keep it clean and respectful, shall we?

The fun continued with a look at hate speech legislation because, surprise, there are actual laws around that. In short, don't be awful online. Ever.

Finally, we talked about data protection. Yes, there are actual people who hold onto your data like it’s their most prized possession. And those pesky cookie banners? They're not just annoying; they exist because we care about privacy. Or at least, we’re supposed to.

The Bottom Line

Social media success isn’t just about making pretty posts, it’s about being consistent. Staying on top of trends, and most importantly keeping things legal. So, go forth, plan your content, and avoid becoming the next viral cautionary tale.

Stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget.
